I am lucky to have gotten to enjoy so many first with our dear friends and neighbors. Their daughter Katie is a junior this year, and it’s so fun to be included in her “send offs” to these big events. AND WHO DOESN’T LOVE PROM??? Loved it as a girl…I think I even appreciate it more now. Girls are so much more elegant and sophisticated than I remember being. I put TONS of thought into my overly ruffled taffeta dress and everything that went with it…but apparently lacked the style savvy to know what was timeless and elegant…OMG WHAT WAS I THINKING?????!!! Not to mention the sun posioning from laying out the day before b/c tanning beds where not the norm. LOL!!! To think about it makes me LOL…serious LOL!!! Too bad there are no do overs.
Oh Katie…..and her date John. I have known both of them and their families for a LONG time now….and they were really just little kids. They are great friends and team mates and boy did they make a handsome couple for prom. We were totally rushed as they had places to be, but I did manage to get a few snaps of them at the entrance of our neighborhood. When they stepped out of the car I was speechless…..Yes…those who know me cannot believe b/c I am NEVER SPEECHLESS but really they took my breath away! Katie Katie Katie….I don’t even know what to say a full day later. My son’s reaction…WOW Mom…look at Katie. That just about sums it up. Katie, is such a natural girl and doesn’t need the “extra” stuff….but how glamorous when she does….and if that wasn’t enough of a stunner….she only JUST had her braces removed after many LONG years last week. I kid you not….so to go with her natural elegance was the most dazzling white smile. Just thinking about her makes me smile….and John…you weren’t half bad either!!! You two clean up well!!!!
